This was a trip I planned last year. I had booked my tickets but had to cancel the trip in the end because of the airport closure in Bangkok due to demonstrations.
The theme of this trip was the Khmer ruins in North-eastern Thailand. One of the major ruins was Praeh Viharn at the Thai-Cambodia border, which unfortunately was closed due to political tension between the two countries.
Whereas I was preparing to go alone last year, this trip, I have four other companions: Yvonne, Eileena, Sheung and Willy.
We arrive in Bangkok at 6pm and took a taxi to Hua Long Pong railway station. Sheung had asked his friend who was going to Bangkok to help us book the overnight train tickets to Buriram a month ago. Unfortunately, there were no sleepers for the late trains and we had to get 2nd class fan seats.
The temperature started to plunge in the night and it was really close in the train. The seats can be inclined but weren't too comfortable. Most of us were not able to get much sleep. We got off at Buriram at about 7am in the morning.
